Chakra - Sanskrit for wheel or disk
The literal translation of chakra is wheel or disk...but the chakras are so much more. Chakras are energy centers in the body that spin with invisible energy known as Prana, or vital life force. There are seven main chakras that run through the center of the body starting at the base of the spine, and move up to the crown of the skull. Each of these major chakras correspond with a set of physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual components that provide us with information and a means to heal. My study of the chakras has only just begun, and the more I learn, the more I want to share.
Wheels of Life by Anodea Judith, PhD. is a wonderful place to begin if you are interested in this exploration.
60 MINUTES PRIVATE - 90 MINUTES GROUP
A multifaceted practice that balances the mind and body through integrating the study of the chakras into a more traditional yoga sequence.
Clients are offered the option to choose a particular chakra to focus their practice on or have a class that includes all seven of the major chakras.
This practice begins and ends with a meditation and includes a thorough warm-up, an active sequence, at least one restorative pose, as well as aromatherapy. The themes, poses and essential oils are mindfully chosen to balance and open the chakra of focus.
